First and foremost, we would like to thank all of our students, parents, volunteers, teachers, administration and school staff for a most successful fundraiser. We had an incredible turnout of volunteers. It is always so amazing to see all of our students and their parents out there running on the track, having such a great time participating in an event that will benefit each and every student at our school.

So, without further ado, I will announce our RTG fundraising total....drum roll please...

Become a Member of our KES PTO

Our Mission is to support and enhance the learning environment and community spirit of Kendall Elementary School (KES) as identified by parents, teachers, and staff. Together we can make a difference in our children’s education.

Our goal this year is 100% membership in our PTO!

The PTO serves the school in many ways including supplies that benefit individual classrooms to big ticket items that benefit the entire school. 2011-2012 PTO Meeting Dates

PTO meetings are held in the cafeteria beginning at 8:00 am and generally last an hour. Meetings include a report from the Treasurer, a report from the Principal, activity updates, teacher grant reviews and any other items for discussion.

Special Note to Parents & Teachers:

Please note that a $25 gift card, to the store of choice, for the teacher & a free Ice Cream for their students will be awarded for the top class at each grade level with the highest percentage of PTO Memberships processed by the Membership Drive Deadline. (There can only be one winning class per grade so drawings will be conducted for any grade levels with a tie)

What a great way to show your classroom support and thank your child’s teacher.

Are you a Champion Charger football fan in K-6^th grade?

Then you can be a Chargin’ Charger and welcome in the Champion Charger Varsity Football team at each home game. The cost is $20.00 for the first child and $15 for each additional child in the family. This will include your very own “Chargin’ Charger “t-shirt, as well as a night with the Champion Chargers playing ball and eating hotdogs on October 18^th at 6:00p.m. at Champion High School football Stadium.

Hershey Kiss Sales

Hershey's Kiss sales are kicking off tomorrow, February 8 and will be sold through Friday, February 11. Students can purchase a printed Valentine's card with an attached Hershey's Kiss during their lunchtime. These can be sent to friends, classmates, teachers and staff. Each Hershey's Kiss is only 25¢, and will be delivered to classrooms on February 14.

Family Movie Night

A few upcoming events to keep in mind:

Accelerated Reader Store October 28 & 29

Our Accelerated Reader store will be happening next week, October 28 & 29, for students in grades 2-6. If you would like to volunteer to help out at the AR store, or on the AR team, please contact Heather Bohman at heather.bohman@gmail.com or (210) 215-7553. The cutoff date to earn points for this store was October 15. Be sure to remind your students about taking AR quizzes after they have finished reading a book. Now is the time to start getting those points for our next AR store being held in December.

Red Ribbon Week October 25-29

Students will be celebrating Red Ribbon Week, a reminder that drug free is the way to be, next week October 25-29. Each day next week the students are encouraged to participate by doing something fun and different each day.

Monday - wear red shirts

Tuesday - wear sweats

Wednesday - wear college shirts

Thursday - wear Pajamas (reminder that pajamas must meet school dress code)

Friday - wear KES shirts, jeans, and boots

Be sure to turn in student permission slips so student's can participate and get a FREE RTG tshirt.
Ask family and friends to donate to our school fundraiser.
Sponsorship donation envelopes are due October 29.
Donations can also be made online by going to www.kesrtg.blogspot.com
Purchase your RTG Meal Deal Cards, online or with the yellow Meal Deal form/envelope your student brought home, due October 29.
Turn in grade level food donations in the pick up/drop off line or feel free to drop off in the front office.

Wanna Help Us Win $50,000????

Please help our school win a $50,000 grant, or one of three $20,000 grants, by voting daily at www.powerabrightfuture.com. Be sure to vote for Kendall Elementary School in Boerne, TX (you can find us by typing our zip code, 78006, into the search box). Our entry is titled "Help Us Save Our Art Program."

The first time you head to the site you'll have to set up a username (it just takes a moment). Be sure to go back daily and vote through November 1, 2010. Our art program has been cut in half and winning this grant would greatly improve our students' access to art.

Take a moment to vote, and to also pass this on to as many people as you know to get them to vote too.

RTG Pep Rally

Run The Gauntlet, Run, Run The Gauntlet!!!!

The students will be having a Run The Gauntlet Pep Rally during school on October 15 to kick off our sponsorship drive for our Run the Gauntlet fundraiser and to get our students excited about participating. Students will be given their sponsor packets and lots of info to bring home after the pep rally, so look for that in their backpacks the afternoon of October 15!!

Remember, our RTG fundraiser is a "bring your parent to school day" and is being held on November 5. If you would like to volunteer during this fun day please contact Michelle Cortez at michellelynncortez@yahoo.com or 210-867-0523.

Join us at our Chick-fil-A dine out night on September 23, 2010 at the Chick-fil-A at The Rim. Our teachers will be serving drinks and helping out all evening. Be sure to put your receipt in the box after ordering. Drive thru orders will also be counted so be sure to pick up dinner and help our school at the same time. It's a win-win. Warm and yummy dinner, no dishes, and our students will earn money too.

KES PTO September meeting

Please join us for our first PTO meeting of the year on Monday, September 13, 2010 at 8 am in the Kendall Elementary School cafeteria.

We will be discussing the upcoming year and holding our first grant request review of the year. For those who aren't familiar, a grant request review is an opportunity for PTO members to hear, and vote on, the requests that teachers and/or staff have submitted for PTO funds to help supplement classroom learning.

Our PTO meetings usually last about an hour, and we will have some light refreshments and a door prize. Hope to see you there.

There will be a BooHoo, Yahoo! Breakfast in the cafeteria right after drop off the first day of school. We invite all parents to join us for light refreshments and an opportunity to mingle with other parents who are both misty eyed (boohoo) and excited (yahoo) about school starting.

***Remember the parking area and drive are always extra busy during drop off and pick up the first few days of school, so build in a extra time, and extra patience, as we all get back into the swing of things.***
